Customize Your Blade

Gendai David Hwang Katana (Complete)

This is a fully functional, heat-tempered, clay-fired, water-quenched Katana, signed and dated by swordsmith David Hwang. This blade is made from 6290 spring steel and measures 27 inches long. It is shinogi zukuri in shape with a nice torri sori and fully tempered notare hamon. Comes with the steel fittings you see here (menuki are silver).

Construction: Folded L6 steel core with folded 1095 steel outside, laminated
Nagasa (length): 28 5/8" (approx 73 cm.)
Sugata: Shobu-Zukuri (no shinogi/yokote)
Sori: Torri
Kissaki: O Kissaki
Hamon: Irregular Gunome (3/4" wide)
Mune: Takashi
Nakago: 9 1/2", ubu, 2 holes (mekugi ana)
Koshirae: 11 3/4" custom wood Tsuka, white center cut fully wrapped same-gawa, steel falcon tsuba, plain black iron fuchi/kashira set, sterling silver dragonfly menuki set, copper seppa (also available in silver), wooden saya in red with black speckles, textured, with black water buffalo horn koiguchi and kurikata.

Gendai David Hwang 28-inch Katana

The brother of one above, this clay-fired and water quenched katana comes signed and dated in full polish.

Construction: Folded 1050 Steel Core with folded 1095 outside.
Nagasa (length): 28 5/8" (approx 73 cm.)
Sugata: Shinogi-Zukuri
Sori: Torri
Kissaki: Long ko kissaki
Hamon: Regular Gunome (3/4" wide)
Mune: Takashi
Nakago: 9 1/4", ubu, 2 holes (mekuki ana)
Koshirae: A custom 11 3/4" wooden tsuka has been made, complete with fully wrapped same-gawa. Tsuba, fuchi, Kashira, and seppa all available as well. Comes with black textured saya with black water-buffalo horn koi-guchi and kurikata.

You may also wish to customize your blade to your own tastes. We can help you there too. Purchase a blade, habaki, and saya for $350. You may then choose to outfit the parts and pieces in any of the following ways:
